In the last months running up to the 2006 elections Republican scandal erupted from every corner of Congress. Democrats only had to stay silent and let the news do the talking.
This year the same is happening. Financial meltdown is THE outcome of Gordon Gecko-style Wall Street greed, but the McCain campaign has tried to root itself as the anti-Republican machine and they spin every bit of corrupting news as “Them not us” before it even hits the dust.
Problem for McCain, but truth for Obama, is that there are only two types of votes, Republican and Democratic, in elections and on the Senate floor.
When it comes to the bills that allowed greed to proliferate on Wall Street, McCain voted for ‘em. So, is he for ‘em or agin’ ‘em? He can Claim he’s against corruption but he’s for deregulation– in other words creating BIG FAT LOOPHOLES for his lobbying friends to snake through and THAT is what opened the gates to Gordon Gecko! It’s up to voters to know what he’s actually done.
Maybe the problem with his Straight Talk is his Crooked Walk?
In the past few days, as the economic crisis has deepened, Senator John McCain has been decrying the excesses of Wall Street. At a campaign rally in Tampa on Tuesday, he vowed that he and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, if elected, “are going to put an end to the reckless conduct, corruption, and unbridled greed that have caused a crisis on Wall Street.” He noted that the “foundation of our economy…has been put at risk by the greed and mismanagement of Wall Street and Washington.”
