Some people just know how to run with a great idea.
Linda Brown from Arizona Advocacy Network (AZAN), working to get above the negative reporting suggesting Democratic town-halls on Health Insurance Reform were finding negative response, seized on the idea of ‘freeway blogging’ but chose perfectly legal freeway ’signing’ instead!
According to a report from Linda:
We had great response with lots of honking horns and waves from the cars below. A lot of truckers honked, so Go Teamsters!
No media showed but Channel 15 called again this morning and said they want
to cover us tomorrow, so we will be back on the 12th St overpass.Had some consternation among volunteers about our first message in the sequential signs–”SAY YES TO INSURANCE CHOICE!” followed by “SAY YES TO
PUBLIC OPTION!” The intention was to push back against the myths by tieing
together the ideas of Choice and Public Option. In any case, the best news is that it is clear that folks know what “PUBLIC
OPTION” means based on the volume and intensity of positive feedback we
received. Only three people gave us the finger.
